Aims of Home From Home
The aims of Home from Home can be broadly categorised as:
To recognise and further develop the learning that has taken place within
the family and community. To develop, within the premises, a caring group which has concern for the respect
and welfare of others.
Also, encouraging the development of the caring environment in which each child can flourish.
To provide a warm, friendly, safe, secure and caring environment
in which the children can become happy, confident and independent.
To promote
a positive attitude towards learning and society in general.
To be approachable for parents, carers and children to
communicate with us.
To
enable, young children to realise their physical, intellectual, academic, emotional and social potential
through a broad curriculum which is designed to stimulate each individual.
To develop early reading and numeracy skills and to extend language and communication skills.
To
provide an environment which will encourage the children to be creative, foster an enquiring mind and to care for others.
To cultivate an atmosphere of mutual respect and trust
by encouraging young children to participate in the decision-making processes of this establishment.
To welcome parents, carers and other
members of the community to work in partnership with us to achieve our aims.
Ethos
of Home From Home
The overall ethos of Home from Home is one of clear structure and
boundaries operated within a homely environment and family atmosphere. A sense of safety and security is the prime aim and, accordingly, supervision of young children is close but with
due respect for privacy. Independence in activities and the conduct of relationships is negotiated as mutual
trust and confidence develop.
For Happy Children, Think Safe Children
We
work hard at encouraging the children to think about what is safe behaviour and what is not. We carry out regular safety checks on equipment, indoor and outdoor
play areas. When on outings we ensure that every child is buckled
correctly into their baby seat/booster seat or buckled up with the car seat belt. We politely request that parents enforce issues of road safety such as this as it assists us when
children are out and about with us. In further promoting road safety, high visibility tabards are provided to be used where
necessary eg. when walking to and from nursery/school during the winter months or other outdoor activities.
